Hermione Bezuidenhout is a Bournemouth University Advertising undergraduate currently studying for her final year. Hermione has recently completed a ten month placement working for the integrated creative advertising agency, Elvis Communications. During the 10 months of her placement she fulfilled the role of a Junior project manager working on accounts such as Wagamama and Kallo.
Pip Bourdillon is a final year student studying Advertising at Bournemouth University. Pip has recently completed a placement year at the digital communications agency, Think Jam. As the PR intern she assisted the entertainment marketing team, working with clients such Warner Brothers, Disney, and 20th Century Fox. Pip is very interested in the opportunity to be involved in contract/academic research projects.
Thomas Briscoe is a final year Marketing Communications student at Bournemouth University. He was born and raised in a rural village on the Suffolk coast. He spent a year working for the Superfast Dorset Team at Dorset County Council and successfully ran a Google advertising campaign. He subsequently taught the Dorset County Council’s communications team how to use Google advertising. He is particularly interested in the effects that digital innovations have on marketing practices and strategy.
Danica Gilbert is a final year Public Relations student, currently studying Consumer Futurising, Applied Creativity and Social Communications modules. She has recently completed a year’s placement as an Assistant Account Executive at PR firm Weber Shandwick, working primarily within the Consumer Practice. She hopes to write her dissertation on the topic of health and fitness PR; and go on to work in this industry in the future.
Alex Love is a final year undergraduate student studying Advertising at Bournemouth University. Alex comes from nearby Portsmouth where he has spent the last year between different placements, developing his skills in SEO, Social Media, Content Creation, Copywriting and Media Planning. During this time he has developed a great interest in the evolving digital landscape.
Katherine Mason is a final year advertising student at Bournemouth University. She is originally from Birmingham but moved to the South to further my education, and thinks living by the sea is a big bonus. She has just completed a 10 month placement with the marketing agency, Intergage, where she was a Marketing Assistant working primarily on event planning, copywriting and social media management. She loves psychology and art, which directed her to pursue a career in advertising and she is continuously fascinated by the creative thought behind she sees.
James Sewell is a final year undergraduate studying Advertising at Bournemouth University. His current topics include Applied creativity, Creative direction and copywriting, and Consumer futurising. James was born and raised in Reading, and recently completed a 10 month placement as a marketing intern at a social media startup in Richmond known as Baagloo Ltd. He is extremely interested in the health and fitness industry, which he hopes in future, can become the industry in which he will work in.
Rock Shin is originally from South Korea and a final year advertising student at BU. Over the last year, he has worked with Platinum Property Partners as a marketing intern, and with the U.S Embassy in Seoul. He feels pleasantly refreshed when he encounters thought-provokingly offensive advertisements. With a desire to engage and experience as many industries as possible, he is currently working part-time in the medical industry and interested in how the fundamental principles of marketing communications apply differently in each sector.
James Thompson is a final year Advertising student at Bournemouth University, with experience as an SEO Executive at HouseTrip and as a Freelance Copywriter (currently working with Adapt Worldwide). He has worked within both client and agency environments and has created several pieces of public content. He is now looking to research into the media’s effect on mental health and advance his career into Copywriting.
Viraj Vaz is a final year advertising student that was born in India, raised in the United Arab Emirates and educated in the UK. He is a highly motivated individual who has a strong passion for advertising and marketing with a strong focus on creation and idea generation. He loves to boast about his love for music and sports. He is a creative at heart and has been so for as long as he can remember. He loves to paint and conjure up ideas constantly, whether they be required or not. He feels as though his creative flair aids him in his marketing/strategic mindset. Curiosity plays a big part in his day-to-day life. He is constantly searching for explanations, problems, solutions and ideas that can help him and or anyone around him. He is a firm believer on reflecting upon successes and failures and constantly aiming to improve his skill set.
Emily Westwood is a final year Advertising student. She has just completed a placement at Mindshare working on the M&S account. She was born up north but raised down south. She often pronounces words such as ‘bath’ and ‘grass’ like a northerner and often gets confused looks from southern people who haven’t got a clue what she’s just said. She is fascinated by society’s obsession with wanting (and getting) everything NOW, the rise of services such as Deliveroo and Amazon prime are examples of this ever growing demand.
