Becky is a Senior Lecturer in Consumer Culture and Behaviour.
Becky completed her PhD – a study of consumption and consumer culture in the everyday imagination – at Bournemouth University before becoming a full time lecturer in the Media School.
Becky has published research in the areas of consumption in the imagination, the role of consumption in inter-personal relationships, non-market mediated consumption and in relation to Higher Education. Her co-authored paper ‘Just Normal and Homely’: the presence, absence and othering of consumer culture in the everyday imagination’ was awarded Editor’s Choice, in the Journal of Consumer Culture highlighted as one of the journals most noteworthy manuscripts since its launch in 2005.
Currently involved in research projects about the role of digital devices in the practice of cooking, Hen and Stag parties as ritual consumption experiences, access based consumption, and consumer relationships with brands, Becky is particularly interested in the contextualisation of consumption in everyday life and consumption in transitional periods/life stages.
Over the last three years Becky has carried out consultancy with a variety of companies including ITV, Channel 4, JC Decaux and Booking.com.
